Dr. Nishant Sanghavi is a surgical oncologist based in Ahmedabad, treating cancers of the digestive, urinary, and reproductive systems, along with head & neck and breast cancers, using techniques ranging from robotic-assisted surgery to open procedures. He currently serves as Director and Consultant Surgical Oncologist at Zanish Cancer Hospital, Naranpura.
Dr. Nishant Sanghavi’s path into surgical oncology started at Smt. NHL Municipal Medical College, Ahmedabad, where he completed his MBBS. He returned to the same institution’s Shardaben Hospital for his M.S. in General Surgery, completed in 2010, before specializing further with an M.Ch in Surgical Oncology in 2014 at the Gujarat Cancer and Research Institute (GCRI), Civil Hospital — one of the country’s dedicated cancer treatment and research centers.
From there, he pursued advanced training in laparoscopic onco-surgery under Dr. Shailesh Putambekar at Galaxy Care Institute, Pune, building the minimally invasive skill set he now applies to robotic and laparoscopic cancer procedures. He has been Director and Consultant Surgical Oncologist at Zanish Cancer Hospital since March 2018.
Dr. Nishant Sanghavi’s practice covers a wide range of cancer types: GI oncology, uro-oncology, gynecologic oncology, head & neck oncology, breast cancer surgery, and soft tissue sarcoma. Within that range, he performs robotic-assisted and laparoscopic minimally invasive surgery where appropriate, alongside more complex procedures such as HIPEC (hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy) for advanced abdominal cancers.
His approach favors the least invasive option that still achieves a complete, safe resection — but the right technique depends on the tumor’s location, stage, and the patient’s overall health, which is why treatment planning happens case by case rather than following a single default protocol.
Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Nishant Sanghavi is active in the broader surgical oncology community. He has served as Conference Director and Chairperson at national oncology forums, including the Thoracic and Colorectal Oncology Summit (TACOS), held in Ahmedabad.
Meeting Dr. Nishant Sanghavi for the first time usually means bringing your existing reports and imaging so he can review your specific case rather than start from scratch. Expect a direct conversation about your diagnosis, the treatment approaches available to you — including whether a robotic or minimally invasive option applies — and enough time to ask questions before any decision is made.
If you’ve received a diagnosis and want a second opinion, or you’re ready to discuss surgery, Dr. Nishant Sanghavi reviews cases personally before recommending a path forward.
